What started as a passion project turned into a coffee table book celebrating the heart and soul of New York City’s last authentic pizzerias through photography and interviews, with a foreword from New York Times best-selling author, and native Brooklynite, Jonathan Lethem.

The project focuses not on the pizza, but the people and places behind New York City’s favorite food. Over five years, my friends and I visited over 100 pizzerias across the five boroughs—taking photographs and capturing the stories of customers, employees, and owners.

Eventually we launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the design, printing and distribution of our book. The campaign raised almost $30,000, became a featured project of the Kickstarter staff, and was featured in Gothamist, Village Voice, Time Out NY, Huffington Post, and NYLON.

We’ve since gone on to run a second printing, and have sold 4,000 copies of our book online and in bookstores and museum gift shops across the city. The book is currently out of print, but all of our photos and audio clips from some of our best interviews are up on our website.
